Potential of Suaeda nudiflora and Suaeda fruticosa to Adapt to High Salinity Conditions

چکیده

The deposition of salts in soil seems likely to become a significant barrier for plant development and growth. Halophytes that flourish naturally saline habitats may sustain extreme salt levels by adopting different acclimatory traits. Insight into such features can be useful devising salt-resilient crops the reclamation soil. Therefore, salinity-induced responses were studied two halophytes, i.e., Suaeda nudiflora fruticosa, at high salinity level (ECe 65) explore their possible tolerance mechanisms natural habitat. Samples tissues collected from both species determination physio-biochemical attributes, ionic (Na+, K+, Ca2+, Cl−) content, osmo-protective compounds (proline, soluble sugars, proteins), total phenolic antioxidant components. Heavy metal composition accumulation samples also assessed, respectively. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis was conducted cellular metabolite pools with respect salinity. results showed considerably adjusted above-mentioned attributes resist salinity, demonstrated quantitative differences above-ground tissues. FTIR profiles confirmed plants’ differential terms variability lipids, proteins, carbohydrates, cell wall constituents. capacity Na+ Cl− considerable bioaccumulation factor (BAF) values metals, mainly Fe Zn, validate importance as phytodesalination plants potential use phytoremediation salt- metal-polluted soils.

Responses of Atriplex spongiosa and Suaeda monoica to Salinity.

The growth and tissue water, K(+), Na(+), Cl(-), proline and glycinebetaine contents of the shoots and roots of two Chenopodiaceae, Atriplex spongiosa and Suaeda monoica have been measured over a range of external NaCl salinities. Both species showed some fresh weight response to low salinity mainly due to increased succulence. S. monoica showed both a greater increase in succulence (at low sal...

Germination of dimorphic seeds of Suaeda aralocaspica in response to light and salinity conditions during and after cold stratification

Cold stratification is a requirement for seed dormancy breaking in many species, and thus it is one of the important factors for the regulation of timing of germination. However, few studies have examined the influence of various environmental conditions during cold stratification on subsequent germination, and no study has compared such effects on the performance of dormant versus non-dormant ...

The effect of salinity on the growth, water status, and ion content of a leaf succulent perennial halophyte, Suaeda fruticosa(L.) Forssk

Suaeda fruticosa (L.) Forssk plants grown in saline conditions (200 to 400 mol m!3 NaCl) had greater fresh and dry weights than those grown in non-saline controls, and 600 to 1000 mol m!3 NaCl inhibited growth. Gibberellic acid and kinetin both alleviated some of the inhibitory effects of salinity at 800 mol m!3 NaCl on shoot growth of S. fruticosa while root growth was promoted by kinetin. Tis...
